Solution 1: Use Windows 10 shortcuts to hack the "black screen" Common problem for laptops with small disks is to get a full disk which leads to black screen. The best working option for me is solution: Step 5: Uninstall latest updates when disk is full or updates failed. I removed all the drivers to restore them one by one and I can say the display disappears after loading bootvid.dll.Įither Ntoskrnl.exe(from the SVN release) can't run in my system, or Ntoskrnl.exe can't load the file needed to display the next screen.Looking to solve - Windows 10 displays a black screen with the loading cursor - and nothing else works? If so let's show you several steps which are going to resolve the problem. Alter the reboot Freeldr.sys began to load files then I got the black screen. I replaced Setupldr.sys with Freeldr.sys in the root folder. To be sure to have no files corrupted while the cd burning, I replaced the files copied from the cdrom with files exctracted from the the iso image. I had used the kernel of ReactOS 0.3.1 to complete the setup of the SVN build. It was the size of the file from the SVN release. And after the setup I could verify the size of Ntoskrnl.exe. This feature doesn't exist in ReactOS 0.3.1. I 'm sure it was ReactOS 0.4 SVN setup because while copying the files from the cd to the harddisk I could see how the different types of memory were used. And at the reboot I got ReactOS 0.4 SVN setup, and the setup was completed. I copied the folders extracted from ReactOS 0.3.1 release Bootcd to the harddisk, to boot from this device, but in the cdrom drive, instead of ReactOS 0.3.1 release bootcd, I inserted SVN 26303 release Bootcd. It couldn't workįinally I had another idea.

I tried to install with Freeldr.sys but the registry I had copied from ReactOS 0.3.1 was no more valid because Bootvid.sys has been replaced with Bootvid.dll. But I got immediatly after the first blue screen the same black screen I had seen when booting from the cd. To limit the riisk of corruption while the cd burning, I exctracted the installation files from the iso image to copy them on the harddisk, I renamed Setupldr.sys Freeldr.sys, inserted the bootcd in the drive and after the reboot the setup started from the harddisk. So I tried the method I had already used to install ReactOS 0.3.1.(see my topic, "ReactOS 0.3.1 : black screen when loading blue.sys". I had already a problem that seems to be the same when installing ReactOs 0.3.1. When I try to boot from the cd I can see the first blue screen ReactOS 0.4 SVN setup, then a black screen. I have tried to install and run Bootcd 2635 releases. Since I could run ReactOS 0.3.1 in VGA mode only, GreatLord and HTO told me to try last SVN builds, but I can't.
